Rådhuset, Malmö Town Hall
Stortorget, the Main Square of Malmö

Information from Rådhuset:
Welcome to the Town Hall in Malmö!
The original building from 1546, which is hidden behind the present walls, was erected at a time when Malmö had reached the height of its glory during the mayoralty of the celebrated mayor, Jörgen Kock. The style of architecture was Late Gothic, with stepped gables and oriel-like windows on the upper story. The Town hall is located at Stortorget, the Main Square of Malmö, also built in 1536 at the initiative of Jörgen Kock. Stortorget became Malmö’s new marketplace and was the largest city square in Northern Europe for a very long time. The Town Hall with its copper roof and gold statues really stands on this historic square of Malmö. The reception takes place in the modern Town Hall Chamber.
